Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') received notice from Fidelity Management &
Research Company today that the non-beneficial notifiable interest of FMR Corp.
and its direct and indirect subsidiaries ('FMR') and Fidelity International
Limited ('FIL') and its direct and indirect subsidiaries and in the ordinary
share capital of the Company now comprises 21,049,142 ordinary shares,
representing 5.01% of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company. The
notifiable interests of FMR and FIL also comprise the notifiable interest of Mr
Edward C. Johnson III, principal shareholder of FMR and FIL.
Fidelity Management & Research Company have informed us that these shares are
held solely for investment purposes.
