Balfour Beatty plc ('the Company') received notice from Fidelity Investments
today that the non-beneficial notifiable interest of Fidelity International
Limited ('FIL') and its direct and indirect subsidiaries in the ordinary share
capital of the Company now comprises 16,593,749 ordinary shares, representing
3.93% of the issued ordinary share capital of the Company.  The notifiable
interest of FIL also comprises the notifiable interest of Mr Edward C. Johnson
III, principal shareholder of FIL.

Fidelity Investments have informed us that these shares are held solely for
investment purposes.
