Balfour Beatty plc ("the Company") received notice today from Citibank, N.A., on behalf of Standard Life Investments Limited ("Standard Life") that Standard Life now hold 55,057,187 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 8.02% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 55,057,187 ordinary shares, the Company has been advised that 30,621,583 (4.46%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 24,435,604 (3.56%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
