BALFOUR BEATTY RAIL SIGNS
-------------------------
WILLESDEN REMODELLING CONTRACT
------------------------------
Balfour Beatty, part of the BICC Group, announces today that Balfour Beatty,
Westinghouse and Railtrack have signed a contract for re-modelling track and
ancillary services at Willesden in north London as an addendum to the Euston
Alliance project.
The Alliance is valued in excess of £100 million and has been under way since
last year.
The work at Willesden, which is valued at £48 million and involves the upgrading
of further railtrack infrastructure in the area to the north of Euston Station,
is also part of Railtrack's West Coast Route Modernisation.
Mike Welton, chief executive, Balfour Beatty, commenting on the announcement,
said, 'We are delighted to be awarded an extension to the Euston Alliance
project as part of the prestigious West Coast Route Modernisation contract. It
is no doubt a reflection of the success of the Alliance between Balfour Beatty,
Westinghouse and Railtrack'.
Balfour Beatty was awarded the Euston project under a conventional form of
contract, but has since formed a single alliance with Railtrack and Westinghouse
led by an intergrated management team.
Balfour Beatty is also, in joint venture, preferred bidder for the
electrification of the West Coast Main Line.
