Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A. (BBVA), pursuant to the provisions of
article 82 of the Spanish Securities Market Act, proceeds by means of the
present document to notify the following:

RELEVANT EVENT


The board of directors of BBVA, in its meeting held today March 28, has accepted
the resignation of Mr. Ricardo Lacasa Suarez, as member of the board, due to the
fact that he has reached the age limit provided in the Regulation of the board,
and has thanked him for his valuable contribution to the bank from his position
in the board.

The board of directors of BBVA has also agreed the appointment of (i) Mr. Rafael
Bermejo Blanco as member and chairman of the Audit and Compliance Committee, and
as member of the Risk Committee, and (ii) Ms. Susana Rodriguez Vidarte as member
of the Appointment and Remuneration Committee. Apart from these changes, the
board committees maintain their present composition.
