FIRST INTERIM DIVIDEND FOR YEAR 2001

The Board of Directors of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A., in the meeting
held today, has approved the payment of the first interim dividend for year
2001, according with the schedule of the dividend payments approved on May.

0.085 euros (14.14 pesetas approximately) per share.
