RELEVANT EVENT

According to the law in force, BANCO BILBAO VIZCAYA ARGENTARIA, S.A. informs
that, in the distribution of shares done by the Mexican Government, BBVA's
allocation was 3% of the stock capital, at a closing price of 8.10 Mexican pesos
per share.

After that, BBVA's ownership in Bancomer will be higher than 51% of its stock
capital, after obtaining the Mexico's Treasury and Public Credit Secretary
authorisation.
