BBVA Board of Directors, in their meeting held yesterday in the New York Stock
Exchange, approved the appointment of Richard C. Breeden, former president of
the Securities & Exchange Commission (USA), as a bank's new board director.

The effectiveness beginning with his acceptance, expected by the next Board of
Directors meeting.
