RELEVANT EVENTS

BBVA informs that the Judge of the Central Magistrates' Court number 5 of the
National Court (Audiencia Nacional) has decided to summon Banco de Espana to
cancel the penalising procedure, communicated through Relevant Event of 22nd
March 2002, until the possible penal responsibility of the responsible people
and affected by the investigation that the court has decided to do about the
facts, is solved. 

BBVA insists in its absolute disposition to co-operate in the judge 
investigation about the facts, which where voluntary informed to Banco de Espana 
by BBVA, after adjusting the accountancy.

BANCO BILBAO VIZCAYA ARGENTARIA, S.A., informs that Gervasio Collar Zabaleta and
Juan Urrutia Elejalde have presented their resignation as members of BBVA Board
of Directors and Boards of the Grupo BBVA companies which they belonged. Both of
them declaring they do so for loyalty to the institution, and to avoid prejudice
to shareholders, employees and customers.
