Bank of Ireland announces the appointment of Mr. Giles Andrews as an Independent Non-executive Director to the Board of Bank of Ireland Group PLC and the Court of Directors of The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland with effect from 17 November 2020.
Mr. Andrews also joins the Risk, Remuneration and Group Transformation Oversight Committees.
Mr. Andrews has extensive experience in financial technology, investment and lending as well as strong management experience. He co-founded Zopa in 2004, the first ever online peer-to-peer lending marketplace. Mr Andrews was CEO of Zopa from 2007 to 2015, Chairman from 2015 until 2019 and remains a member of the Zopa Group Board. Mr. Andrews is Chairman of Bethnal Green Ventures, a leading early-stage venture capital firm which focuses on using technology to tackle large-scale social and environmental problems, and is on the boards of Carwow Limited, a platform for buying new cars from franchised dealers, and Market Finance Limited, a FinTech platform that provides working capital finance to small businesses in the UK.
Mr. Andrews received a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology from Christ Church at Oxford University and an MBA from INSEAD. He was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to financial services and was named FinTech leader of the year in the 2016 FinTech innovation awards.

The announcement is made in accordance with Rule 6.6.5 of Euronext Dublin's Listing Rules and Rule 9.6.11 of the London Stock Exchange's Listing Rules.
In accordance with Euronext Dublin's Listing Rules 6.1.66 and Rule 9.6.13 R(3) of the London Stock Exchange's Listing Rules, Mr. Andrews has disclosed that he was an executive director of Action Leisure plc which went into Administration on 11 October 2001. No further details are required to be disclosed in respect of Mr. Andrews pursuant to Euronext Dublin's Listing Rules 6.1.66 and Rule 9.6.13 R(3) of the London Stock Exchange's Listing Rules.
