THE BANKERS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC PAYS FIRST INTERIM DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDING
                                31 OCTOBER 2006


The Bankers Investment Trust PLC has declared a first interim dividend of 2.22p
per ordinary share net (2005: 1.94p) in respect of the year ending 31 October
2006 payable on 31 May 2006 to shareholders registered on 28 April 2006.  The
Company's shares go ex-dividend on 26 April 2006.
