                             BARCLAYCARD SEMINAR



Barclays is today holding a seminar for buy and sell side analysts, hosted by
Matthew W. Barrett.


At the seminar, Barclays will outline aspects of its Barclaycard business
including the strategy for defending and growing its position as the leading
credit card provider in Europe.


The presentations will cover: Barclaycard's current business and future
strategy; its plans for growth in the UK including the launch of Barclaycard
Direct; continued expansion of its international operations; when it will
launch in Italy next year; and generation of value through its use of
information-based customer management (IBCM).



The presentations from the Barclaycard Seminar will be available as a live
webcast on the Barclays website at www.investor.barclays.co.uk.  An archived
version of the presentations will be available this afternoon.
