Notification of director's interests: Companies Act section 329
Mr J M Stewart notified the Company on 28 November 2000 that on 24 November
2000 he had purchased 300 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 1910p
per share.
Following this transaction, Mr Stewart has a total beneficial interest in 641
ordinary shares in Barclays PLC.
Mr Stewart, together with other Directors and senior executives of Barclays
PLC and Barclays Bank PLC, has an interest as a potential beneficiary in
7,876,020 Barclays PLC ordinary shares held by the independent trustee of the
Barclays Group employees' benefit trusts. These are discretionary trusts
established for the benefit of Barclays Group employees and former employees
(and in each case their families) all of whom are potential beneficiaries.
As a participant in the Woolwich Sharesave Schemes Mr Stewart also has an
interest as a potential discretionary beneficiary in 474,306 Barclays PLC
ordinary shares held by the trustee of the Woolwich Qualifying Employee Share
Ownership Trust.
