Notification of director's interests: Companies Act section 329
Mr J M Stewart notified the Company on 12 February 2001 that he acquired 1
Barclays PLC ordinary share at a price of 2041p as a result of the
re-investment of reclaimed tax from his single Company PEP on 21 December
2000.
Mr Stewart has a total beneficial interest in 642 ordinary shares in Barclays
PLC.
Mr Stewart, together with other Directors and senior executives of Barclays
PLC and Barclays Bank PLC, has an interest as a potential beneficiary in
7,724,689 Barclays PLC ordinary shares held by the independent trustee of the
Barclays Group employees' benefit trusts.
As a participant in the Woolwich Sharesave Schemes Mr Stewart also has an
interest as a potential discretionary beneficiary in 470,799 Barclays PLC
ordinary shares held by the trustee of the Woolwich Qualifying Employee Share
Ownership Trust.
