Sir Brian Jenkins notified the Company on 5 December 2000 that on 1 December
2000 he had purchased 426 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 1948p
per share.

Following this transaction, Sir Brian Jenkins has a total beneficial interest
in 500 ordinary shares in Barclays PLC and a non-beneficial interest in 26,300
ordinary shares in Barclays PLC.
