BARCLAYS PLC
INVESTOR AND ANALYST SEMINAR
Barclays is today holding a seminar for buy and sell side analysts, hosted by
Matthew Barrett.
At the seminar Barclays will outline the plans for its Wealth Management
business, including the launch of a new and comprehensive proposition for its
wealth clients under a new brand, Barclays Private Clients.
The presentations will focus on growth in the affluent and high net worth
sectors in the UK and Europe and the business will set out its objectives of
achieving a greater share of wallet from existing customers and attracting new
clients, through an enhanced client proposition.
Barclays Private Clients already has a leading franchise in the wealth
management market with over one million clients across 33 countries, managing
£81bn of client assets.
Barclays Group Chief Executive Matthew Barrett said 'Barclays is committed to
building a leading position in Europe. Within Barclays Private Clients we
already have 170,000 clients in continental Europe, the top-ranked affluent
banking brand, and over 600 relationship managers. With this unique service,
we now aim to double our continental client base over the next five years.
Open Plan, which we acquired with the Woolwich, gives us a great platform for
acquiring new clients on the Continent. Wealth Management is one of the
businesses where we are in pole position to become the recognised market
leader across Europe.'
The presentations from the Barclays Private Clients Seminar will be available
as a live webcast on the Barclays website at: www.investor.barclays.co.uk. An
archived version of the presentation will be available this afternoon.
