Barclays PLC (the 'Company') announces that on 6 September 2007 it purchased for
cancellation 5,500,000 Barclays ordinary shares at a price of 607.5525 pence
each. This purchase was carried out pursuant to the Buy Back Programme, details
of which were announced on 23 July and 2 August 2007. All shares purchased have
been cancelled.
