                        APPOINTMENT OF MANAGING DIRECTOR





A.G.Barr p.l.c., the Glasgow based manufacturer of soft drinks, including the
popular IRN-BRU, TIZER and ORANGINA brands, are pleased to announce the
forthcoming appointment of Mr Roger White as Managing Director.  Mr White, aged
37, will join the Company on 30th September 2002 from Rank Hovis McDougall Ltd
where he is currently Commercial Director of their British Bakeries subsidiary.
Mr White will report to Mr Robin Barr who continues as Chairman.



Educated at Dumfries Academy and Edinburgh University, Mr White's career with
Rank Hovis McDougall has spanned fifteen years, during which he has been
promoted through a variety of roles.  Most recently these have been the Managing
Director's position at first Charnwood Foods and then the newly acquired Le Pain
Croustilliant Ltd and for the last three years he has been Commercial Director
of the largest RHM business, British Bakeries Limited.



Commenting on the appointment, Mr Robin Barr said;
