                           Resignation of Director


It is with considerable regret that A.G.Barr p.l.c. announces that Mr Hugh
McPherson has today resigned as a Director of the Company.

Hugh joined the Company in March 1998 as Managing Director but, since October
last year, has suffered a number of health problems which have ultimately led
to his decision that he will be unable to return to his duties.

Everyone within the Company would wish to extend their best wishes to Hugh and
we hope that he can ultimately make a full recovery.
