BARRATT DEVELOPMENTS PLC

The Company was notified today by the trustees of the Barratt Developments
Employee Benefit Trust that they had purchased a total of 200,000 Ordinary 10p
shares representing 0.086 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.

The purchases were made as follows:-

The Executive Directors of the Company are potential beneficiaries under the
Trust and therefore are deemed to have acquired a non-beneficial interest in
these shares.
