By a notice dated 20th December, 2001 (received 2nd January, 2002) Barratt
Developments PLC ('the Company') was notified that Barclays PLC, through its
subsidiary Barclays Bank PLC, has a notifiable MATERIAL INTEREST in 12,229,506
shares of the Company representing 5.20% of the Issued Share Capital of the
Company, an increase in their MATERIAL INTEREST holding of 1,458,013 shares
(0.62% of the Issued Share Capital of the Company) since the last notification
dated 5th November, 2001 (received on 7th November, 2001), but that their
TOTAL interest in the Issued Share Capital of the Company (including their
NON-MATERIAL holding of 10,061,057 shares (4.28% of the Issued Share Capital
of the Company) is 22,290,563 shares representing 9.48% of the Issued Share
Capital of the Company.
