Due to the tragic death of Frank Eaton, Barratt Developments PLC's Chairman
and Chief Executive, on 7th October, 2002, the Board has decided to delay
posting its 2002 report and accounts and, consequently to postpone the Group's
Annual General Meeting ('AGM') originally scheduled to be held on 14th
November, 2002.  Posting of the report and accounts and a new date for the
Group's A.G.M. will be announced as soon as is practicable.  The A.G.M. is
expected to be held during December, 2002.

In order to ensure that shareholders are not disadvantaged by the postponement
of the A.G.M. the Board has resolved to pay a second interim dividend of 9.89
pence per ordinary share in place of the previously proposed final dividend
for the year ended 30th June, 2002 of the same amount.  The second interim
dividend will be paid on 15th November, 2002 to those shareholders on the
register at close of business on 4th October, 2002 (the same timetable as that
originally planned for the final dividend).

In view of the payment of this second interim dividend, the Board will not be
proposing a final dividend for the year ended 30th June, 2002 at the postponed
Annual General Meeting.
