BATM Advanced Communications Limited
("BATM" or "the Group")
BATM wins two telecoms contracts in the United States
New projects to upgrade service networks with 10GE connection
BATM Advanced Communications Limited (LSE: BVC; TASE: BATM), a leading provider of real-time technologies for the networked telecoms and medical laboratory equipment markets, is pleased to announce that, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Telco Systems, it has been awarded two contracts to provide its telecommunications solutions to service providers in the United States for the upgrade of existing networks.
Under the smaller of the contracts, the Group delivered its solutions based on Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), a mechanism for high-performance telecommunications networks, including the T-Metro 8001 aggregation platform and Edge Genie management system, to a service provider focusing on interactive voice and IP telephony services for both large and small enterprises. By deploying the Group's comprehensive 10GE solutions, the customer is able to offer improved services, including low latency, high availability and high bandwidth. Currently being deployed in the US, the customer also adopted the Group's Network Operations Center - which includes training, support, design and consulting services - in anticipation of expanding the network to further territoriesin the coming months.
The second contract, which is currently being deployed, is with a local service provider in Louisiana where the Group is the prime vendor in a project to provide 165 schools in the south of the state with 10GE network connections. This roll out is being delivered under the Schools & Libraries Universal Service Fund Program, or 'E-Rate Program', which is a federal government programme to help schools and libraries obtain affordable telecommunications services, broadband Internet access and internal network connections. In addition to its aggregation platforms and management system, the Group is providing its latest network interface device, the T-Marc 334S.
Dr Zvi Marom, Chief Executive Officer of BATM, said: "These new contracts reflect the continued and growing demand for upgrading existing networks. With our strong portfolio of products, and vast experience as a Carrier Ethernet and MPLS solution provider, we are well-positioned to address this demand. We look forward to expanding on these projects and benefiting from further opportunities."
