BATM Advanced Communications
('BATM' or 'The Company')
Announces contract with Major Network Equipment provider to trial new industry
leading solution platform
BATM Advanced Communications Limited (LSE: BVC), a leading designer and producer
of broadband data and telecoms systems, is pleased to announce that it has
signed a contract with one of the world's largest providers of Telecoms Network
equipment to trial BATM's solution for a new industry standard.
The contract is to pilot BATM's new, comprehensive solution platform for
Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA), the industry standard which is
set to lead the future of the telecoms world. The pilots are to take place in
2007 with a view to mass roll out the following year.
ATCA will provide the telecommunications industry with an opportunity to adopt a
standard architecture for a broad spectrum of products and is expected to
maximise the benefits of improved product capacity, cost reduction and faster
deployment. So far ATCA has attracted a lot of attention within the telecom and
computing industries and has now been selected by major telecom equipment
manufacturers for their new product designs.
This innovative solution positions BATM as the leader in AdvancedTCA platforms.
The platforms are powered by the BINOS real time EMS platforms that have already
been installed in millions of ports which fully support a range of services
including switching, routing, QoS, protection and redundancy amongst many.
The platforms will allow carriers to provide commercial, medical and military
applications.
A Telecom Grade Linux version of the BINOS known as BINOX will be provided in
2008.
Dr Zvi Marom, CEO of BATM, commented:
'The platform that our systems teams have put together is second to none and,
for the first time, really enables many of the applications that the telecoms
world has been looking for.
'We are delighted with this first ATCA contract and strongly believe that more
will follow.'
