LETTER TO BRITISH AIRWAYS PLC

Notification concerning interests in shares.

1   Wellington Management Company, LLP ('WMC'), the undersigned, acts as
    discretionary investment manager to various separate accounts (the 
    'Accounts') that hold beneficial interests in British Airways plc (the 
    'Company'). Please note that while the information given below details the 
    disclosable interests of more than one entity, the notification is not 
    extended to indicate that any of these entities act as a group or in concert 
    with respect to these interests. The interests detailed in paragraph 4 below 
    were acquired for the Accounts in our capacity as discretionary investment 
    manager to, and solely for the benefit of, the Accounts and the interests 
    were acquired solely for investment purposes.

2   WMC hereby gives notice to the Company pursuant to the provisions of 
    Sections 198(1) and 208(4)(B) of the Companies Act 1985 (the 'Act'), of the 
    event referred to in paragraph 4 below.

3   This notice is given in fulfillment of, and for the express purpose of 
    discharging the obligations imposed on us by, the said Sections and arising 
    out of the circumstances referred to in paragraph 4 below.

4   WMC is aware that it currently holds, in the aggregate, with respect to the
    Accounts, an interest, within the meaning of Sections 203 and 208 of the 
    Act, in 32,044,873 ordinary shares, 3,600,540 ADRs, and 3,495 Cedears. On a 
    converted basis, this represents the equivalent of 68,061,923 ordinary 
    shares, or 6.29% of the shares outstanding in the capital of the Company. 
    This represents an increase of 1.04% since our notification dated 
    11 January, 2002.


The aforementioned shares are registered in the name of the Accounts or their 
custodians or nominees according to their respective holdings.

Our interest in the aforementioned shares is such an investment as is mentioned 
in Section 205(5) of the Act.
