British Airways PLC 14 February 2002 BOARD STATEMENT In the light of recent speculation, the Board of British Airways Plc has issued the following statement: 'We are fully aware of our corporate governance responsibilities as they relate to succession to the chairmanship and have the necessary procedures in place for an orderly changeover, at the appropriate time. Claims that headhunters have been - or are about to be - appointed, are entirely false. 'We are happy to confirm that the Chairman, Lord Marshall, has the full confidence and support of the Board and will be standing for re-election in July for a further two years, by which time he will be 70 years old.'
