Changes at Board Level - New Executive Chairman

Following the announcement on 19th October 1999, the Board of Bellway plc (the
'Company') is pleased to confirm the following changes to the Board of the
Company with effect from 1st November 1999.

   -     Howard Carlton Dawe, MCIOB, currently Acting Chairman and Chief      
         Executive, becomes Executive Chairman of the company.

   -     John Knowlton Watson, BSc, ARICS, currently Technical Director,      
         becomes Chief Executive of the company.

   -     David Gordon Perry will join the Board as a non-executive director.
