Appointment and Resignation of Directors

The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mike Toms as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 February 2009.  

Mr Toms is currently non-executive Chairman of Northern Ireland Electricity plc, and a non-executive director of UK COAL PLC. He was formerly an executive director of BAA plc and was a non-executive director of Viridian Group PLC. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI). 

Mr Toms will become Chairman of the Board Committee on Executive Directors' Remuneration, and will join the Audit and Nomination Committees of the Board.

There is no information to be disclosed in accordance with LR 9.6.13 points (1) to (6) and at the date of this notification, Mr Toms holds no shares in the Company.

The Company also wishes to announce that Mr Leo Finn will retire from the Board at the close of the AGM to be held on 16 January 2009 after more than 13 years as a non-executive director, including over 5 years as senior independent non-executive director.  Current non-executive director, Mr Peter Johnson will assume the role of senior independent non-executive director vacated by Mr Finn.
