The following alteration should be made to the Benchmark Group PLC Director
Shareholding announcement released today at 07:08 under RNS No 1826E.

In Paragraph 2 the number of CULS acquired should read: '18,000' and not
'118,000'.

All other details remain unchanged.

Benchmark Group PLC ('the Company') hereby gives notification of purchases of
CULS by Directors of the Company.

On 24 May 2001 Mr N J Kempner, Chief Executive of the Company and Mr K C Wong,
Managing Director (Finance) of the Company, each acquired 18,000 CULS at 111p
each.

Following this notification, Mr N J Kempner is beneficially interested in 91,200
CULS in the Company representing 0.18% of the issued CULS of the Company and Mr
K C Wong is beneficially interested in 44,812 CULS in the Company representing
0.09% of the issued CULS of the Company.
