                       GRANTS OF SHARE OPTIONS TO DIRECTORS

Benchmark Group PLC ('Benchmark') hereby give notice of share options granted to
Mr N J Kempner ('Mr N Kempner') and Mr K C Wong ('Mr K Wong'), Directors of
Benchmark under the Benchmark Group PLC 1996 Unapproved Executive Share Option
Scheme ('the Scheme').

By a deed dated 21 September 1999 between Benchmark and Mr N Kempner, an option
was granted to Mr N Kempner to acquire 156,587 Ordinary shares in Benchmark at a
price of 231.50 pence per share and be a deed also dated 21 September 1999
between Benchmark and Mr K Wong, an option was granted to Mr K Wong to acquire
133,910 Ordinary shares in Benchmark at a price of 231.50 pence per share, both
in accordance with the terms and rules of the Scheme ('the Options').

The Options are exercisable between 21 September 2004 and 21 September 2006.

Following this notification, Mr N Kempner and Mr K Wong held options over
Benchmark Ordinary shares totalling 681,435 shares and 610,225 shares
respectively.
