Metallurgical Testwork

Berkeley Resources Limited 01 May 2007 1 May 2007 Positive Results from Initial Metallurgical Testwork The Directors of Berkeley Resources Limited (AIM: BKY.L) are pleased to announce very encouraging results from initial metallurgical testwork on two representative samples from the Retortillo uranium deposit. Two twenty kilogram samples of mineralised shales from drill core, representing the strongly and weakly oxidised sections of the deposit, have been subject to comprehensive metallurgical testing at the SGS Lakefield Oretest Laboratories in Perth, Western Australia. This work was conducted under the guidance of the Company's Senior Metallurgical Consultant, Mr Chris Johnson, a former Chief Metallurgist at the Rossing Uranium Mine, in Namibia. Recoveries of U308 from the sample of strongly oxidised mineralisation exceeded 90% after eight hours of leaching over the entire range of size distribution, up to and including 80% passing 850 microns. For the sample of weakly oxidised mineralization, recoveries exceeded 90% after two hours for the entire size range - these recoveries increased to 93% - 94% after eight hours of leaching. Further testwork on the samples is underway and will be reported in due course. These encouraging results, combined with the recent announcement of the JORC compliant resources of 11.9M lbs of U308 for the Retortillo and the nearby Zona 7 deposit, enable scoping studies to commence. As set out in the March Quarterly Report, a reverse circulation drilling program is also scheduled to start later this week, aimed at testing for strike extensions to the Retortillo deposit to the southeast and northwest. The information in this report that relates to Exploration Results, Mineral Resources or Ore Reserves is based on information compiled by Mr Peter Ellis, who is a Member of The Australian Institute of Geoscientists and a consultant of Berkeley Resources Limited. Mr Ellis has sufficient experience which is relevant to the style of mineralisation and type of deposit under consideration and to the activity which he is undertaking to qualify as a Competent Person as defined in the 2004 Edition of the 'Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves'. Mr Ellis consents to the inclusion in the report of the matters based on his information in the form and context in which it appears.
