BOARD CHANGES AT BERKELEY BERRY BIRCH PLC ('THE COMPANY')


The Board announces that Craig Butcher, Finance Director, has given notice of
his intention to resign to pursue his career in another area. A termination date
is being mutually agreed and the Board hopes to name a successor in this role
shortly.

The Board also announces that Kevin Higginson will not renew his mandate as a
Non Executive Director on 1 February 2005, following the completion of a two
year term.

Kevin's place as Non Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee will
be taken by John Joyce, who will be appointed to the Board on 1 February 2005.
John is a Chartered Accountant and currently Chairman of Wenham Major Private
Clients. He was formerly National Head of Tax of Tenon Group Plc and prior to
this role he was Head of UK Corporate Tax for Rolls Royce Plc.

The Board further announces the resignation on 24 January 2005 of Bill Main,
part time Deputy Chairman since October 2004.

The Board will also be appointing Michael Cleary, currently Director of its
Financial Services Division, to the Plc Board with effect 1 February 2005, and
expects to announce a new Executive Director, a Plc Board position carrying
primary responsibility for its Insurance Division, within the next six weeks.
