London Stock Exchange Announcement
4th September 2002
Berkeley Berry Birch plc
Retirement of Non Executive Director
The Board of Berkeley Berry Birch plc today announces that David Birch, a non
executive director, will be retiring with immediate effect.
David (65), a founding director of Berry Birch & Noble plc, was due to retire in
December 2000 but was asked to remain on the Board to assist with the transition
following the creation of Berkeley Berry Birch in January 2002.
Sir Jeremy Black, Chairman of Berkeley Berry Birch commented, 'David has played
a significant role in developing the company since its formation in 1964. We
asked him to remain on for eighteen months beyond normal retirement age whilst
the new management team took control of the company. With this process now
complete David feels it is an appropriate time to leave the Group. We thank him
for his long commitment to the Group and wish him the very best in his
retirement.'
The Chairman's statement within the Group's preliminary results issued on 29th
July 2002 stated that the Board were planning to appoint new non executive
directors during the year. This process is now at an advanced stage and the
Group anticipates making further announcements on appointments in the near
future.
