Notifiable Interest



The Company was notified by a letter dated 2 November 2006 that the British Coal
Staff Superannuation Scheme, registered in the name of British Coal Staff
Superannuation Scheme (Chase GIS) nominees Ltd, now has an interest in
39,829,955 Ordinary Shares of 0.1p each in the Company.  This represents a total
of 3.98 per cent of the issued share capital of the Company.



The Company was also notified by a separate letter dated 2 November 2006 that
the Mineworkers Pension Scheme, registered in the name of Mineworkers Pension
Scheme (Chase GIS) nominees Ltd, now has an interest in 43,029,956 Ordinary
Shares of 0.1p each in the Company.  This represents a total of 4.30 per cent of
the issued share capital of the Company.
