                  FINSBURY LIFE SCIENCES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
                                (the 'Company')

                    MARKET PURCHASE OF COMPANY'S OWN SHARES


Notification is given pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual General
Meeting of the Company held on 6 August 2004 to make market purchases of the
Company's own shares up to an aggregate maximum of 4,511,990.

That, a market total of 450,000 Ordinary shares of 25p each in the capital of
the Company was purchased by the Company today at a price of 95.75p per share
for cancellation.

The total number of Ordinary shares repurchased for cancellation is 2,425,000.
The number of Ordinary shares that the Company has in issue, less the total
number of Ordinary shares repurchased for cancellation following such purchase
and cancellation will be 27,675,000.
