Forbidden partners with EVS to show Cloud workflows at NAB

Forbidden Technologies, the AIM-quoted owner and developer of the market leading FORscene Cloud video platform, is pleased to announce that it is partnering with EVS to promote Cloud sports and news workflows at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, Nevada from 8 - 11 April 2013.

EVS is the leading provider of outside broadcast digital video production systems. Its products are tailored to excel and enrich live productions across all industries from sports, news, entertainment and media. Some of its live production tools include its XT range of servers, IPDirector, its content production management suite, second-screen media delivery platform, C-Cast, and the LSM, that has now become a standard worldwide. Around 7,000 operators on all continents use EVS's applications on a daily basis.

Forbidden's FORscene will be shown interfaced with EVS's IPDirector to allow remote, browser based editing of footage in sports centres or newsrooms. Remote edits will be conformed against broadcast quality footage centrally for transmission. Additionally, FORscene will be shown working with EVS's Xedio Dispatcher to support remote acquisition and editing of news footage by journalists in the field.

The platform will provide access to a number of benefits. For field editing, users will be able to upload ENG material to the cloud to share with broadcast centre users, and will also be able to upload content from the broadcast centre to the cloud for use in the field. If editing remotely, users can then upload content from multiple facilities to the cloud, enabling editing anywhere. Once complete, any hi-res conformation of the edit can be done in the destination where the playout will take place.

Luc Doneux, EVP Sports division at EVS, said:

"We watched with interest as FORscene was used by sports broadcasters in 2012 to enhance their coverage of the major sporting events of the summer. The time has come to integrate FORscene with IPDirector and Xedio Dispatcher to allow our clients to benefit from the cost advantages and flexibility of cloud-based workflows."

Stephen Streater, CEO, Forbidden Technologies, said:

"EVS have firmly established an excellent reputation in their chosen fields.  Integrating FORscene with the EVS platform creates an inspiring combination. Clients in the sports and news markets have a treat in store."

The Proof of Concept solution will be displayed at NAB at the EVS booth, number SL2416.
