FORscene used in IBC TV News

'Self-service syndication' uses Forbidden's Cloud based tools

Forbidden Technologies, the AIM quoted developer of the market leading Cloud video platform FORscene, today announced that IBC TV News, the broadcaster for the IBC 2011 exhibition in September will use FORscene to provide its self-service syndication workflow. Available through any web browser, FORscene will be available to re-purpose both material for broadcast and website videos during and after the exhibition.

Forbidden has extended its FORscene platform to professional tablet use. The full editing and publishing workflows (including where required shooting and uploading) - is available on Android devices. Apple's iPad tablet is restricted to the simpler review and commenting functionality. In all cases, FORscene's Cloud access means that edits of material in the Cloud are immediately available worldwide both on tablets and standard desktop and laptop computers.

FORscene's biggest customers use the powerful FORscene Server, and a software version is being ported to run on Android tablets. This simplifies use in the professional news environment by minimising internet access requirements while providing all the benefits of access to video libraries, metadata and edits stored on the Cloud.

Our in depth integration with a variety of workflows including Avid, Final Cut Pro, Editshare, ENPS, Chyron and now EVS has ensured widespread adoption.

For IBC TV News a FORscene Server based at the RAI conference centre will compress and upload material shot by the IBC TV News teams. Material will also be stored locally in full resolution on the local FORscene Server for auto-conform.

Participating broadcasters and IBC exhibitors will be able to access library content provided under editorial control including rushes and daily programme footage.

Sophisticated search functionality and built-in moderation tools through a range of access levels will enable users to search metadata attached to the material. Using FORscene's editing tools; users will be able to create simple edits or complete web video packages.

Once complete, FORscene's auto-conform process will provide a high resolution MPEG-2 or H.264 file to be used in final broadcast pieces or to delivered to exhibitors' websites.

Greg Hirst, Business Development Director of Forbidden Technologies plc, said:

"FORscene's strength in handling metadata and providing easy to use editing tools enables users to access material and choose content based on editorial requirements. It is a pleasure to be working with IBC TV News for our fourth consecutive year to showcase new workflows and our improved technology."
