Change of Named Manager

BRITISH PORTFOLIO TRUST PLC

RCM (UK) Limited ('RCM') has announced that Trevor Green, the manager of British
Portfolio Trust plc ('BPT') will be leaving  on 18 April 2008.  RCM and the
Board of BPT would like to thank him for his contribution to the management of
the Company and wish him well for the future.  Trevor will be replaced as
manager of BPT by Jeremy Thomas, a Director in RCM's UK equity team, where he
has worked since September 2004, and who has been Deputy Fund Manager to Mark
Lovett on the UK portfolio for The Brunner Investment Trust plc.     He
currently runs a range of UK Open Ended Investment Companies and UK
Institutional funds.   Jeremy has over 12 years investment management experience
and previously worked at ISIS Asset Management and Schroder Investment
Management.
