Admission to the Official List


The Board of British Portfolio Trust plc ('Company') announces today that
gross proceeds of £63,921,362 have been received pursuant to the Loan Note
Offers, the Placing and the Offer for Subscription ('Issue'), all as described
in the prospectus of the Company dated 2 November 2001, of 42,617,490 ordinary
shares of 1p each in the Company ('Ordinary Shares') at a price of 150p per
share. Total expenses relating to the Issue will be 3% of the initial gross
proceeds. Dealings in the Ordinary Shares are expected to commence on 12
December 2001 and certificates for the Ordinary Shares are expected to be
despatched by 19 December 2001.
