In accordance with its obligations under rule 5.6.1 of the Disclosure and Transparency Rules, we would like to notify the market of the following:

As at 30 September 2008, British Portfolio Trust plc's capital consists of 42,586,964 ordinary shares with  voting rights. British Portfolio Trust plc holds 3,828,664 ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in British Portfolio Trust plc is 38,758,300.

The above figure (38,758,300) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, British Portfolio Trust plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
