BRITISH PORTFOLIO TRUST PLC-VOTING RIGHTS AND CAPITAL



The following replaces 'Total Voting Rights' announcement released on Wednesday
6 December 2006 under RNS Number 3429N.



The issued capital consists of 44,172,274 ordinary shares with voting rights not
40,707,974 as previously advised.



The full amended text appears below.



In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6 we
would like to notify the market of the following:



British Portfolio Trust plc's capital consists of 44,172,274 ordinary shares
with voting rights.  British Portfolio Trust plc holds 3,500,000 ordinary shares
in Treasury.



Therefore, the total number of voting rights in British Portfolio Trust plc is
40,672,274.



The above figure (40,672,274) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, British Portfolio Trust plc
under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
