The following replaces the "Transaction In Own Shares" announcement released on Wednesday 25 August 2010 under RNS 6514R, which stated the incorrect settlement date.  The full amended text appears below.

British Portfolio Trust plc announces that on 25 August 2010 it purchased, for cancellation, 20,000 Ordinary 1p Shares (representing 0.06% of the issued Ordinary Capital), at a price of 124.0p per Ordinary Share.

Settlement of the purchased 20,000 Ordinary Shares is due on 31 August 2010.

Following the purchase and cancellation of the 20,000 Ordinary Shares, the total number of Treasury shares held by the Company will be 5,504,664. The issued share capital of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares held in Treasury, will be 31,690,820 Ordinary 1p Shares.
