RESULTS OF AGM


The Directors announce that all resolutions proposed at the Annual General
Meeting held earlier today were duly passed. In line with their recommendation,
the Directors are pleased that the resolution proposing the continuation of the
Company as an investment trust was approved with an overwhelming majority.

Commenting on the outcome of the vote, Mr Peter Burnell, Chairman, said, 'This
is an excellent result. We are pleased with this endorsement from our
shareholders which reflects their enthusiasm for Latin America in general,
investment trusts generally and F&C LAIT in particular. We remain optimistic on
the prospects for the region both during the current year and looking further
ahead and believe that equities are currently attractively priced'.
