3i Smaller Quoted Companies Trust plc (the "Company")



Further to the announcement made by the Company on 15 June 2004, concerning the
holdings of HSBC Bank plc in the Company, the Company received a notification
under Section 202(4) of the Companies Act 1985 yesterday stating that, as at
close of business on 22 July 2004, of the interests disclosed in the earlier
announcement, 48,871 shares constituted interests as mentioned in Section 208(5)
of the Companies Act 1985.
