Bloomsbury Publishing PLC announces that it has today, 19 September 2002,
purchased for cancellation the following ordinary shares of 5p each ('Ordinary
Shares'):
-            120,000 Ordinary Shares at £5.60 per share;
-             50,000 Ordinary Shares at £5.55 per share; and
-             50,000 Ordinary Share at £5.50 per share.
