Bloomsbury Stock Exchange Announcement
The Board is pleased to announce that trading for the Group for the year ended
31st December 2000 will be significantly ahead of market expectations. The
strong trading position has arisen from many areas of the Group, in
particular, sales of the Booker Prize winning novel, The Blind Assassin by
Margaret Atwood, strong book sales from Bloomsbury USA and sales of books in
the Harry Potter series.
Making the announcement, Nigel Newton Chief Executive said 'Trading is strong
across the Group demonstrating the broad base of the company's activities and
the benefits of our long-term investment strategy. The success of Margaret
Atwood's The Blind Assassin is especially significant as it will also drive
sales of her previous titles.'
