Trading Statement

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC 15 January 2008 Trading Statement Bloomsbury Publishing announces that 2007 trading was better than expected and that its results will be ahead of current market consensus. Sales were strong in the UK and Germany and significant progress was made in our specialist publishing. We had a good finish to the year from a number of titles including the Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, Cranford, The River Cottage Fish Book and continued re-orders from the Harry Potter series. A number of significant rights deals were also concluded in the year. 2008 is off to a good start with the recommendation of A Thousand Splendid Suns on the Richard and Judy TV programme on 9th January and is now at the top of most UK retailers' bestseller lists.
