                               Board appointment

Bodycote announced today the appointment of Mr Tim Bell to the main board.  Mr
Bell has executive responsibilities for the group's heat treatment operations
in Germany, Netherlands and Liechtenstein (which he has managed since 1996)
and Eastern Europe. He will also report to the board on the group's operations
in France and Belgium.
