                              Commencement of Drilling


BowLeven Plc ('BowLeven' or 'the Company') announces that the GlobalSantaFe
Adriatic IX drilling rig is on location and commenced drilling of the Bachuo-1
well on 29 October 2005. The Company expects drilling to take 4-5 weeks to 
reach total depth.
