BOARD APPOINTMENT

The Board of BP Amoco p.l.c. announced that it has today appointed Dr Byron
Grote as an executive director of the company with immediate effect.

Dr Grote, 52, succeeds Bryan Sanderson, 59, as chief executive of BP Amoco
Chemicals.  Mr Sanderson will leave the board at the end of next month on
reaching normal retirement age.
